Fujitsu To Feature its WiMAX Reference Design Kit at the WiMAX World in Boston

Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) will feature its WiMAX reference design kit at the WiMAX World Conference and Exposition 2005 at Boston's Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center, October 26 through 28.

FMA will demonstrate a base station communicating with a subscriber station, featuring data communications, web browsing, video streaming, and file transfer (using FTP) over systems built using the industry-leading Fujitsu WiMAX SoC, the MB87M3400.

Fujitsu introduced its WiMAX reference design kit and WiMAX SoC in April 2005. The design kit incorporates all the necessary hardware and software features required for designers to time-efficiently develop WiMAX-compliant base station and subscriber station equipment, according to George Wu, director of marketing for Fujitsu Microelectronics America.

"The deployment schedule for technology and systems based on the WiMAX standard is on track, with significant progress in product development, compliance testing, and early-stage trials," he said. "Our proof-of-concept reference design kit provides system designers with all the tools and capabilities they need to move quickly and efficiently to the market."

The WiMAX World Conference and Exposition will feature the largest exhibition in the world of wireless and mobile broadband solution providers serving the burgeoning WiMAX marketplace. Over 80 exhibitors and more than 130 speakers will join Fujitsu at the conference in Boston.

New Application Note from Fujitsu Designed for Multi-sector Base Station Development

Fujitsu also is issuing a new application note to assist equipment manufacturers who are working with the MB87M3400. Entitled "Design of a Multi-sector Base Station Using the Fujitsu WiMAX SoC," the application note defines the basic requirements for a base station that can serve multiple cell sites, with details about how to build one using the Fujitsu WiMAX SoC reference board design. The document also includes information on Fujitsu's TDD and FDD mode reference designs for base stations.
