(Brocade®) announced this week that Fujitsu Computer Systems will begin shipping the ETERNUS™ VS900, a high-performance storage virtualization solution running on the Brocade SilkWorm® Fabric Application Platform (SilkWorm Fabric AP). The SilkWorm Fabric AP is the industry’s leading intelligent Storage Area Network (SAN) switch designed to support SAN-based applications for storage environment management and administration. Using the latest technology from Fujitsu and Brocade, the ETERNUS VS900 solution delivers enterprise-class virtualization designed to meet customer demand for streamlined storage, efficient data management increased capability utilization and data replication between disparate storage systems. The Brocade intelligent switch provides an out-of-band architecture that enables the ETERNUS VS900 solution to achieve scalability with very high data availability and performance for constantly changing IT environments. The centralized management software also enables online data migration to new disk arrays and supports disk expansion to meet storage capacity shortages without changing server settings.  ETERNUS VS900 solution uses an out-of-band storage replication system, and preserves all of the native performance and software functionality that comes with the physical devices being virtualized.
