Ku-band (13.75 to 14.5 GHz) 32 dBm Power Amplifier Module: Mimix Broadband

Mimix Broadband, Inc. introduced last week, a Ku-band gallium arsenide (GaAs) power amplifier module (PAM). The module is offered in a 4 mm x 4 mm, plastic QFN package. Using GaAs pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor (pHEMT) device model technology, this PAM (CMQ1432), covers the 13.75 to 14.5 frequency bands. The CMQ1432 provides 31 dB gain and delivers 32 dBm of saturated output power.

This low cost and ultra-compact PAM is lead-free and is self-contained with 50 ohm input and output terminals. It is unconditionally stable, and the internal matching allows for a reduction in external components, making this product a simple and low cost solution. Typical application CMQ1432 include use as the final RF amplifier in extended Ku-band satellite transmitter.

"Packaging is undoubtedly a key component of a low cost, surface mount Ku-band product," stated Damian McCann, Vice President, Product Development of Mimix Broadband, Inc. "By putting our Ku-band amplifiers in standard QFN plastic packages, we have opened the door to our VSAT and multi-point radio customers for significant cost savings with no degradation in performance or quality."

Engineering samples are available today from stock. Technical support is also available from Mimix's applications engineers at 281.988.4600. The CMQ1432 datasheet and additional product information can be obtained from the Mimix Broadband website at www.mimixbroadband.com.
