New Family of Dual-Band CDMA Power Amplifiers: ANADIGICS

ANADIGICS, Inc. , announced earlier this week, a new family of dual-band InGaP power amplifiers (PAs) supporting the AMPS/cellular and PCS frequency bands. The new PAs provide full compliance with CDMA 1xRTT and CDMA 1xEV-DO standards, high efficiency, and excellent linearity to enable outstanding signal integrity for mobile data applications. The small footprint 3 mm by 5 mm AWT6310 and AWT6314 feature independent RF paths to ensure optimal performance in both frequency bands, while achieving a 25% space savings compared with solutions requiring two single-band PAs.

"ANADIGICS is one of the world's leading suppliers of CDMA, GSM, 3G and WiFi power amplifiers for mobile wireless communications," said Dr. Ali Khatibzadeh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Wireless Products at ANADIGICS. "Our new dual-band CDMA power amplifiers set a new industry benchmark in size, integration and performance."

ANADIGICS' AWT6310 and AWT6314 PA modules feature 39% efficiency, 50 mA of quiescent current, and 1µA of leakage current in both bands, resulting in longer talk-time and standby-time for today's power-hungry multimedia handsets. The PA modules deliver 27.5 dB gain in the cellular band and 26.5 dB gain in the PCS band, and offer an impressive typical adjacent channel power of approximately -50 dBc in both bands to provide a high quality wireless connection for voice and data applications. The new family of dual-band CDMA PAs provides maximum PCB design flexibility to manufacturers by offering different pin-out configurations that simplify board layouts. These PAs offer a common VMODE line to simplify the control interface and support single-mode operation up to full antenna power. The ultra-thin 3 mm by 5 mm by 1 mm AWT6310 and AWT6314 are designed for applications that require European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) products.

ANADIGICS, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANAD) designs and manufactures radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) solutions for growing broadband and wireless communications markets. ANADIGICS was the first GaAs IC manufacturer to receive ISO 9001 certification and is certified to the ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:1996 quality standards.
