Low Noise 15GHz Phase-Locked Oscillator Surface Mount IC: Hittite Corp.

Hittite Microwave Corporation, recently released a fully integrated InGaP HBT Phase-Locked Oscillator (PLO) Surface Mount MMIC for Point to Point/Multipoint, Test Equipment, Industrial, and VSAT subscriber applications from 14.7 to 15.4 GHz. The fully Integrated PLO delivers -110 dBc/Hz SSB Phase Noise at 100 kHz Offset

The HMC535LP4 GaAs InGaP HBT Phase-Locked Oscillator MMIC is a fully integrated PLO consisting of a VCO, phase frequency-detector (PFD), fixed modulus prescaler, loop amplifier and a digital lock detect (LD) output. The HMC535LP4 delivers +9 dBm output power from 14.7 to 15.4 GHz, with very low single sideband phase noise of -110 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset. Compared to discrete PLO approaches, the HMC535LP4 significantly reduces the component count, and the board space required to produce a low phase noise Local Oscillator signal as required by high bit rate digital radios.

The HMC535LP4 operates from +5V and +12V supply voltages, consumes less than 2W of power and is housed in a 4 x 4 mm SMT leadless QFN package. A RoHS compliant version is available as the HMC535LP4E. Sample and production quantities are available from stock and may be ordered on-line.

Custom PLO products can be designed for customers’ application specific requirements. Contact hmcsales@hittite.com.
