JStream to Develop WiMAX Equipment Using Wavesat’s Reference Kit

Wavesat Inc., a WiMAX silicon developer, recently announced that JStream Technologies, has chosen Wavesat’s EvolutiveTM WiMAX portfolio to develop its subscriber units and an outdoor base station. JStream intends to launch its first WiMAX products as early as September 2005 to Taiwan-based wireless ISP providers and other customers worldwide.

Wavesat’s WiMAX Reference Kit is a tool kit that serves as a design & development platform for WiMAX compliant wireless systems design using the EvolutiveTM WiMAX DM256 integrated circuit. The Kit implements the IEEE 802.16-2004 Physical and MAC layer protocols as well as ETSI HIPERMAN. It facilitates experimentation, evaluation, and investigation with various modes of operation of the DM256 as well as offering several implementation examples to reduce design development efforts. It helps system designers bring products to market faster, assisting in the proliferation of WiMAX for both licensed and unlicensed networks.

Rick Liang, Sales and Marketing Director at JStream Technologies stated: "We’ve chosen Wavesat as our partner to develop WiMAX systems because they are currently leading the space. Furthermore, they offer a flexible and low cost solution that can evolve with the system’s technical requirements."

Wavesat CEO Michel Guay added: “We are pleased to count Kinpo among our growing number of customers. Kinpo is a large and reputable manufacturer who will help WiMAX become a reality by bringing high quality and low cost standard subscriber units to the market quickly."

Wavesat’s EvolutiveTM 802.16/WiMAX portfolio is optimized to facilitate the transition of existing systems, both Base Station and Subscriber Unit, to become WiMAX compliant, with an easy evolution towards Mobility.
