iDirect Technologies announced the addition of the iDirect Compression and Acceleration Server (CAS) technology to the iDirect platform. According to the Company sources, the CAS technology will allow new or existing iDirect customers to reduce their bandwidth costs for web based applications on average by 50%, effectively doubling the available satellite bandwidth of iDirect customers. According to the announcement, the iDirect CAS solution compresses and accelerates static and dynamic data and content in real time by using lossy compression algorithms. Integrating this capability into their network solution will allow iDirect enabled networks to optimize the last mile performance of web based applications. The solution is an easy to install, single box that is co-located with the edge router at the teleport. The iDirect CAS compression solution is compatible with the entire family of iDirect hub solutions, in any network configuration.
