ElvaLink Announces Gigabit Ethernet Mm-wave Links (1.25Gbpst Full-Duplex Radio Link).

March 19, 2005 -- ElvaLink LLC, a leading supplier of millimeter wave wireless network equipment, is announcing the availability of a new PPC-1000 series of Gigabit Ethernet point-to-point millimeter wave radio links.

The Gigabit ElvaLink radio bridge was designed for a wide range of applications such as mobile backhaul, business LAN, FSO backup, IP and emergency recovering networks. The operating frequencies cover 71-75/81-86 GHz, 92-95 GHz FCC licensed bands recently released by the FCC for commercial use in wireless point-to-point communications.

ElvaLink's PPC-1000 is a full-duplex Gigabit point-to-point link especially designed according to FCC requirements. It provides interconnection between remote LAN segments at ultra high speed and utilizes Gigabit Ethernet. One full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet link provides 1.25 gigabit-per-second connectivity that is the equivalent of approximately 650x T1 lines or 1,000x DSL connections. The PPC-1000 product takes 1000Base-SX connections and transparently brings them into link outputs as would be done by fiber optics. A wireless mm-wave Gigabit link provides fiber equivalent performance, reliability and security but without the high deployment costs associated with outdoor fiber installations.

PPC-1000 links enables remote management as well as parameter monitoring capabilities. A special twisted pair patch cable connected to any RJ-45 socket within the LAN will allow remote SNMP management and parameter control, from a central location, of a set of PPC-1000 links.

The PPC-1000 operating distances vary from 1 to 4.5 miles or 1.5 to 7 km depending on the link frequency and rain intensity. It has been proven experimentally that for the same availability the operating distance for a mm-wave link could be even longer than the above mentioned theoretical distance estimations.

“The first PPC-1000 links have already been sold out in February 2005, and more orders are now in process,” said Daniel Korneev, ElvaLink President. “We are optimistic and we expect a good market response to our new PPC-1000 Gigabit Ethernet links. We appreciate the opportunity to bring to thousands of US commercial enterprises online fiber-like capacity using ElvaLink millimeter-wave wireless links”.
