    Compact Wireless-G Router WRT54GC: Linksys


 Linksys®, a division of Cisco Systems, Inc., a leading manufacturer of broadband, wireless, and networking hardware for home, Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) and small business environments, today announced its Compact Wireless-G Broadband router (WRT54GC), which provides home and mobile users with the flexibility, to provide both seamless wireless access and connectivity for wired Ethernet devices in a small compact design.

The Compact Wireless-G Router is three devices in one; a Wireless Access Point that enables users to connect via Wireless-G (802.11g) or Wireless-B (802.11b); a built in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 switch to connect wired Ethernet devices to the network; and a router which allows users to securely share a network with high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The routers’ compact size enables users to place the router almost anywhere in the home or office.

“The Linksys Compact Wireless-G Broadband Router is the ideal router for our customers who have limited space or want something small and compact to have at their workstation or take with them on the road,” said Tim Thornton, director of product marketing. “Our compact-sized wireless router was designed to meet the needs of our customers who are looking for flexibility, sleek looks and a cost effective way to go wireless.”

The new compact router comes with a built-in antenna, however, users can increase the router’s wireless range by connecting an optional high gain antenna (Linksys High Gain Antenna for SMA Connectors - HGA7S), to the included pop-up SMA connector.

Users will benefit from the following features in the Linksys Compact Wireless-G Broadband Router:

  • Three devices all-in-one; 4-port switch, Wireless-G (802.11g) router and access point.
  • Shares a single Internet connection and other resources with wired and wireless-802.11b and 802.11g devices
  • Compact form factor fits in anywhere
  • Wi-Fi Protected Access™ (WPA/WPA2 Personal), wireless MAC address filtering, powerful SPI firewall
  • Supports VPN pass through
  • SMA connector for adding an external antenna for users who want to increase their range

The Linksys Compact Wireless-G Broadband Router (WRT54GC) is immediately available through major distributors, value-added resellers and business solution providers. Estimated Street Price is $79.99.
