40Gbps per Wavelength DWDM Transmission System for Global Telecom Carriers - Huawei

Huawei, China has recently announced that the provision of its industry leading 40Gbps per wavelength Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing ("DWDM") transmission system is available for global telecom carriers in Huawei's OptiX BWS 1600G and OptiX BWS 1600A DWDM solution. The solution allows operators to transmit larger capacity and long-haul DWDM signals with security, quality and flexibility.

Huawei's OptiX BWS 1600G and OptiX BWS 1600A DWDM solutions now allow both 10Gbps and 40Gbps systems to co-exist and operate within the same equipment. As a result, the solutions not only meet the carriers' 40Gbps bandwidth demand, but also provide a smooth evolution.

"Huawei's launch of 40Gbps per wavelength DWDM system will provide the best long-haul transport network solutions for global carriers, demonstrating Huawei's strength and leadership in the optical communications market," commented David Huo, R&D General Manager of Huawei Optical Product Line. "Our 40G solutions are a result of Huawei's focus to deliver the best technologies and solutions to meet the needs of our customers."

Telecom carriers demand for 40G per wavelength DWDM system features a higher aggregation, and further reduces network operation, administration and maintenance costs, when compared to the 10G per wavelength DWDM system. The increase in traffic means that upgrading a 10G per wavelength system to a 40G per wavelength one is going to be a prerequisite to a new piece of WDM backbone equipment for operators.
